The Purpose of the RPT

Although, first-and-foremost, the Register of Professional Turners may appear to only provide a directory of woodturners throughout the UK, our aim is much greater.

Through our strict application process we try to ensure that all our Registrants meet an expected level of quality and excellence - not only in their work but in their professional attitude towards their craft. 

​

We encompass all aspects of the woodturning profession: be it production turning; sculptural; artistic/gallery turning; teaching; demonstrating and this allows us to provide you with an exceptional and diverse collection of woodturners who can meet the requirements of most enquiries. 

​

The RPT is extremely passionate about promoting the craft of woodturning and striving to encourage woodturners to bring out the absolute best of their abilities by becoming a part of the Register.

We offer support for our Registrants by providing a number of Continual Professional Development (CPD) sessions throughout the year, varying from photography workshops to business talks. 

​

In the very near future we are working towards hosting meet-ups for the Registrants so they can spend a day together socialising and possibly sharing their skills with each other. Woodturning professionally can often be a solitary craft, so this would provide a welcomed sociable date in the diary.
